As I have mentioned in a previous post, all CA sixth graders study tectonic plates, the earth’s crust, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanos and the ring of fire.  During a long term Project Based Learning (PBL) approach, WGAM 6th graders tackled this subject with a new twist.  In a team, they were asked to research and present their findings to the class.

THE DRIVING QUESTION:  In order to prevent a worldly disaster, how can you determine the best location and why for a nuclear power plant based on plate tectonic data in different countries?

Even though the process was a bit bumpy at times, they came together to share their findings.

While not all groups chose to use present using technology, all groups used technology to do valid research and out their final projects together.
